Hello everyone!

This website hadn't been updated in months, not until today.

The focus of the server has shifted to Tekkit, an SMP version of the Technic Pack which also includes a port of Bukkit. Technic Pack is a standalone version of Minecraft which includes major technology based mods such as BuildCraft and IndustrialCraft. The Technic Pack can be found here.

The server is public, but due to consecutive griefing incidents, all potential players must register to be on the whitelist here.

Dedi and Public Server! - 12/20/2011, 10:40 AM

The server has officially gone 24/7 dedicated! I will try to announce in advance when the server will need to go down for maintenance, but there may be times when there will be less notice, like installing plugins or changing permissions. Also, there is no longer a whitelist on Plip's Servers. Anyone can join at any time. The ip will be made public as well. This means it is more important than ever to lock any chests which contain items you don't want to lose or be stolen. Don't worry, there are daily backups being made in case there is some kind of major griefing incident.

Bukkit and the Change Log - 11/29/2011, 2:24 PM

This week I have been hard at work on the server.

Bukkit is now installed and running a number of plugins. A complete list of these plugins is available here and will be updated as we add more plugins.

I have created a change log here on the website which will replace Facebook and this news posting as my primary means of posting changes to server software and hardware. See the new change log here.

The change log will be continuously updated with every change I make to the server, and the log history will remain there from the beginning until for however long the server continues to hum.

Hi all,

The server is running normally now. It will be on during the day as it was before and then turned off sometime at night (probably later than it should be). The Static IP (plipsmc.dyndns-server.com) is now working, as well as Hamachi if anyone still wants to connect using that. The server is currently vanilla Minecraft 1.0.0, when Bukkit is re-released I will probably restart the old Bukkit multiworld server so we can have this world along with the other ones. Until then, happy mining in Minecraft 1.0!

Hi Everyone!

The server will go live again tonight to celebrate the official full release of Minecraft, the game we all love which has been in beta for as long as I have played it. The server will be operating again following a two month hiatus due to internet problems. My internet problems are not solved. During the time the server will be operating, I will have no internet access on my desktop. This is a problem which I will have to deal with as soon as possible. Because of this reason, I do not know how long the server will be operating for. Perhaps for a long time, perhaps just for a little. I have a powerful laptop now, but I will still want to use my desktop from time to time, so my best bet is to find some solution to my internet issue.

Restarting the Server - 9/20/2011, 10:33PM

Sorry for the wait everyone, here's an official server update:

The server is currently running, but for some reason I have been unable to get the static ip or even my regular public ip to work. It is for that reason that I had to get the beta version of Hamachi for Linux to work on the server. This is currently working fine but could cause some complications if I want to eventually set up an autostart, plus it would be nice to not need to use Hamachi. Sometime in the next week I will work on getting the proper ip working.

Minecraft was not working today as I did not have time this morning to start the machine. Sorry guys, hopefully I can get an auto start working so this doesn't happen in the future.

With the restarting of the server, there are a couple of other issues we as a community need to discuss:

Firstly is the website. This is the first website update in a long time. This is mostly because the server has been inactive, but it is also because I'm not sure how much use the website even gets anymore. I put a good deal of thought and effort into writing those news updates and I don't want to continue writing them if no one reads them. One primary reason for the website news updates is so that people like Dylan who don't have access to the Facebook page can still receive updates about the server. However, the vast majority of players do have Facebook and are a part of this group. Regardless of whether or not the website news updates continue, we will certainly continue to use the website forums as a means of communication between players and staff. I will be creating a poll on what to do with the website shortly.

The second issue is that of our Minecraft world. The biggest problem with our familiar old Minecraftian landscape is this: The world was generated several releases ago. At this point, especially with the 1.8 Adventure Update, it is missing out on a number of significant parts of a up-to-date Minecraft world. This includes abandoned mine shafts, shrubs, fortresses, abandoned towns, and a whole new biome, swamp. We have generated a new 1.8 world which the server is currently running, but I will create a poll as to what we should do about the world situation.

Third is this: We have a lot of potential with this server and wired internet. We can possibly host other games with success but I need to know what games you guys want to have hosted. I have had some interest in a Trackmania Nations Forever server, which would be cool with me because I like free racing games and it would get other people involved who aren't currently a part of our community. There has also been some interest in a Team Fortress 2 server, and we had a Terraria server in the past. I am also open to suggestions, and I will make a forum thread on this.

Lastly is the issue of mods on our server. We were previously running a Bukkit server with many plugins. Personally, the plugins that I find most useful are things like LWC chest protection, MOTD, and other anti-grief/administrative kinds of things. It may very well be worth having Bukkit on our server for this very reason. In my opinion I think we got a little plugin happy and started installing plugins that altered gameplay a bit too much. But if that's what everyone wants, I wouldn't mind, I just want your input. Again, there will be a forum post on this that I will link to.

The new server arrived today! I will be posting pictures and info later. For now, the old server must go down, as I will need parts from it. :( I will get the new server running as soon as possible, but I cannot say when exactly that will be. Minecraft will not be available the time being, I will post again when it has returned.

Congratulations to goofoff, our EpicMiner for the month of August! He will enjoy elevated permissions and his own special "EpicMiner" prefix for the next few weeks to a month.

He was chosen for his excellent and all completely legitimate creations on the server over the last month or so, including the MC Capitol, a giant smooth stone edifice which has become the capitol of our town, his obsidian bunker, his obsidian airship/gun platform which is loaded with eight cannons, and also his 30 story tower which spans from bedrock to sky limit and he built around when he first joined.

Great mining, goofoff! :D
