I have returned from my trip! The server is back up and running, and I have a few things to mention. First of all is good news. Updating Bukkit to build 953 (Minecraft 1.7.2) seems to have fixed the null pointer exception error that was being caused by the War plugin earlier, although we'll have to wait to know for sure. Second is also good news. I have been devoting a large percentage of my free time towards learning how to write HTML, CSS, and Java! Banditofernando and I have begun work on a hand coded website written entirely with HTML and no visual editors. Java is turning out to be a difficult language to learn, but I'm hoping to develop my skills over the next several years and maybe even write my own Bukkit plugin! :D The next thing to mention is the "Epic Miner" award. Server administration has decided that there should be an award given to one player each month for the most significant or impressive contributions to the server. Receiving the "Epic Miner" award would mean that the player would be promoted (temporarily, of course) from their current rank to the Epic Miner rank, which has its own special set of permissions. ;) The winner of the Epic Miner award for this month will be announced shortly, so stay posted! The next issue is not so good news. In fact it's pretty bad. Fred seems to be dying. From the very beginning I knew that the motherboard in that machine could be going bad. I have more and more reason to suspect that now. No motherboard means computer no work. As I mentioned in the previous new post, I have been having some significant hardware problems on startup. It's true that these problems have only been on startup, but this is problematic for two reasons: Firstly, because it makes the automatic boot that I have setup to turn on the computer when I'm not around much more complicated, and secondly, it is just another indicator that this aged motherboard is possibly nearing its end. I don't know how much time it has left, but sooner or later I do think its going to fail. At this point I am doing a lot of shopping for replacement servers, so if you have any suggestions I'm open to them. Or donations...that would be good too.... Thanks for reading, I'll keep you posted! Plip's Servers Team
